Interaction:

OSR have responded to some unusual cases. One poor seal pup had severe neck wounds that were the result of an entanglement with a discarded fishing net (see Right). Another small pup had an unfortunate run in with a person who shot its flipper. Regrettably, both seal pups' injuries were the result of interactions, either directly or indirectly, with people.

Note:

Increasingly around the world, fishermen are using seals and other marine mammals as scapegoats for declining fish populations. Due to threats of violence from disgruntled local fishermen, OSR has installed surveillance cameras on the buildings that house the seals. Ross, himself, has had death threats. Perhaps you have thoughts of your own about the mentality of people who would do this.

Some Patients

"Sue Ellen"

She had been shot in the eye and didn't respond to our treatment. Fearing the worst, we tried a homeopathic treatment - "Silicea".

Both bullet and clot were expelled & "Sue Ellen" made a miraculous recovery. Half-blind seals can survive well in the wild and she was returned to the sea.

 Prematurely born Common seal pup

This is a premature Common. Common seal pups lose their natal coat in the womb. If born prematurely they will still have the natal coat, as this beautiful little pup shows.
